Dear friend,
School is out and warmer weather is upon us. As we enter into summer, I want to make sure you have the resources you need to keep you and your family safe and healthy. Additionally, June is Pride Month—a time for us to lift up the joy, brilliance and contributions of our LGBTQIA siblings and honor them by continuing to fight for inclusion and equity for all.
Make sure to read on for job opportunities, summer program ideas for children and teens and more.
As always, feel free reach out to my office for assistance by calling 773-278-2020, sending a text message to 773-207-7838, or sending us a note at www.senatorpacionezayas.com/contact-us.

In the District
Throughout April and May, I attended many events throughout the 20th District and beyond. From high school graduations to a ribbon-cutting ceremony at a new affordable housing complex, I was honored to be a part of so many exciting happenings throughout the city. See a few of the events below and visit my website for pictures of additional events I’ve attended.
Last month, State Rep. Will Guzzardi and I visited two local assisted living homes to play bingo and chat with older residents. Read more about our visits here.
Felicitaciones a Brentano Elementary School for an amazing Dia deal Niño celebration organized by the all mighty Parent Mentor Program!
Humboldt Park Health recently broke ground on a new Wellness Center. This facility will be a cornerstone in our community and provide fitness facilities, nutritional classes and more to residents across the area. Read more about the facility here.
Legislative Update
Higher education measures recently signed into law
Two measures I sponsored in the Senate this year were recently signed by the governor. First, we are bringing benefits navigators to public university and community college campuses to help students access on-campus, local, state and federal benefits. Read more here.
SB 3991 was also recently signed into law. This law will not only allow for additional deposits in a Children’s Savings Account for students from financially unstable households, it will also help us understand who is taking advantage of the program and allow us to target outreach to families who might not be aware of it. Read more about the new law here and stay tuned for more information on Children’s Savings Account soon!
