Vaccine5CHICAGO – With the recent surge in COVID-19 cases, State Senator Cristina Pacione-Zayas (D-Chicago) has been proactive in ensuring residents of the district she represents have access to vaccines, booster shots and flu shots right before and after the holidays.

“My goal has always been to spread awareness about the importance of the COVID-19 vaccine, which is more important than ever amidst this recent spike in cases,” Pacione-Zayas said. “Throughout December and the first couple weeks of January, my office has sponsored, hosted or promoted five vaccine clinics with even more to come.”

Sen. Pacione-Zayas has also been active in promoting educational materials regarding the vaccines to help combat vaccine hesitancy, as well as providing residents with resources to access vaccines in Chicago in between the various vaccination events.

“ASI has been focusing on the health and well-being of our communities, but always on our forefront is our aging population who has been amongst the most vulnerable since the beginning of the pandemic,” said Marta Cerda, CEO of ASI Healthcare Services. “We have expanded our work to vaccinate against COVID-19 to protect people of all ages against this deadly virus. Our vaccination events are open to the public with bilingual staff where our Registered Nurses answer all questions about the COVID-19 and flu vaccines. We urge everyone to protect themselves by vaccinating.”

A recent vaccination clinic held on Jan. 8 at the office of State Rep. Jaime Andrade provided nearly 150 people with vaccines and booster shots. The clinic was open to anyone aged 5 and up and offered a $50 gift card incentive for people coming to get their first or second dose. Coupled with two other community clinics sponsored by the Senator, in the past month, 300 individuals increased their protection against adverse outcomes with the virus.Vaccine1

“Ensuring our community is taking the proper precautions against the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, including vaccines, masking and regular testing, is critical right now. Especially in the winter months, and with a new variant of the disease surging, every shot, mask and test has the opportunity to save a life,” said State Rep. Jaime Andrade Jr. (D-Chicago). “I encourage anyone who hasn’t gotten their vaccine to do so; it’s never too late to do what’s best for yourself and your family.”

Sen. Pacione-Zayas and Rep. Andrade will be hosting another vaccination clinic at her district office located at 3140 W. Montrose Ave. in Chicago. The event will take place on Feb. 4 from noon to 5 p.m. and will offer first and second doses, booster shots and flu shots for all eligible residents. No insurance or ID required. See the flyer for the event here.
